Nostalgia inspires...

Today while looking through my pictures I stumbled across this precious picture of my lad the day we went home from the hospital.

I picked out his going home outfit two months before he was born. I was on a walk with my sister and we stopped into Far-Mors boutique.  I saw this little outfit waving at me across the store and I knew I had found it! It had my two favorite little boy colors in it, light periwinkle blue, with vibrant celadon green colored little froggies on it.  I bought it and packed it into my hospital bag. I found a froggie onesie, and hat to match in the following weeks.  This was my most favorite outfit...ok well almost favorite...This is my other absolute favorite outfit.  As you can see I have  an affinity for these color combinations.

So, I have been feeling like I have left the boy gender out of my creative crochet journey, and today while looking at my boys old pictures, I felt inspired to make a little boy garment.  Here is what I came up with.

In the same colors as my boys best.
I tried like hell to crochet a frog, but to no avail.
I settled on my own fish design, and called it a day.

So today my friends, nostalgia inspired creativity.
Hopefully some little boys mama will buy this little vest, and always see her little one in it even when he grows out of it, like I do my boy.

P.S. I still have both of those outfits...

Back...baby...

After a hacker hacked into my blog...I had a week or so of panic, and made my blog private. Now I am back open and being more attentive to my readers, and comment placers, and adding word verification to any comments...

That being said...HELLO AGAIN FRIENDS...I have missed you, did you miss me????

Today is a day of relaxation, visiting, and crocheting.  I will be back on Wednesday with a few crochet works that are now in progress.  Thanks for visiting me today~and in the future!

An evening and morning crochet-a-thon

This little dress I designed on the fly, and it took FOUR freaking hours to finish!!! ARGHHHHH!

If I had to do it all over again I would have chosen a thicker yarn, but I absolutely love the look of the stitches with the thinner wool yarn.  I believe it will fit a newborn to about 2 months old.  I wish I had a baby to try it on.  Not having a pattern gives me creative freedom, but definitely has its down falls.

I also made this little shrug this morning.  Only took about 1 1/2 hours, and it is amazingly soft.

Sam was GRACIOUS enough to try it on for me so I could gauge the size (yet again no pattern...LOL)

I think since it is a bit snug on him it will be for a 3-4 Toddler size.

Thanks for looking~

In anticipation...

I am super excited for the afternoon ahead of me...a visit from Martha.  Martha and I live in the same town, but have not seen eachother since THANKSGIVING!!!  OMG~

So in anticipation of our CHILDFREE REUNION, she made a fabulous homemade ham and cheese quiche for lunch, and I decided to make some of my super delicious homemade Banana Muffins

Here is the recipe for those wanting to take part in similar deliciousness~here is my original recipe.

Preheat oven to 350 Degrees F.

Cream 1 stick butter, 1/2 c. sugar, and 2 eggs together. Then add 3 smallish lightly mashed bananas and fold into the batter.

Sift together in a separate bowl 1 1/2 c. flour, 1 tsp. baking soda, pinch salt, and 1 tsp. cinnamon.

Add the wet ingredients to the dry, blend with a wooden spoon and spoon into muffin tins.

Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Yields: 14 muffins

~ENJOY~

A set for a little princess

Soooooo...you may remember these little booties I crocheted a while back.

Today when I got home from a FA-BU-LO-US time with Julia and our cousin Emily, I felt the need to grab the old crochet needle.  I decided that those adorable booties needed something to go with them.  Hmmmmmm, what shall I make??? Then it came to me...A LITTLE SHRUG!

I love the edging that matches the booties

Can't forget a matching hand crocheted button!

Just Listed it on Our Etsy Shop

On a brighter note...I bought a lovely new item on Etsy!

I came across this lovely post by Amy at Vintage Fern

She had a beautiful, colorful picture of some new wallets she had just crafted for her Etsy shop

I could not resist picking up this quaint little wallet

(I especially love the lining)

Only Girls???

Why is it that I can only get enough ideas to make girl things?

Is it that I am surrounded by boys?

Or that I am in love with frills?

And Ruffles

And Pinks?

And because I make things that I wish I could have worn as a babe?

At any rate...I am infatuated with crafting for little girls, here are the newest creations

Thoughts???

I am by no means a Bohemian Girl, but today I have been inspired by the beautiful
Miss Mandizzle

She makes incredibly lovely headbands, etc for her cute etsy shop, and I fell in love.

So I crocheted a Lala version today for myself to wear.

Here is the finished product.

It is certainly more, shall we say, rustic than hers.

Thoughts?

A day of promise

Today I woke up, and was excited for the day, a day of promise...

A day of promise for a heavenly, relaxed, day of doing all that I would love to do.

I woke at 6:15 and readied my boy for his full day of school.

I then walked him to the bus, and we covered each other in mutual "I love you" s and kisses and hugs.

Then I got into my warm house after the winter chill hit me and decided a tub was in order.
Not just any tub, a bubbly christmas light lit bit of heavenly tubbiness~

Then I did something that I have not done in almost forever...I snugged back into bed. Enveloped with my fabulous new FLEECE sheets given to me by my wonderful momma, and wrapped in the arms of my hubby I drifted off into sleep for almost 2 hours.

Then I went for a lovely walk with my mom who I have not seen in over 5 days.
We then spent almost 2 hours nestled in her warm house drinking coffee
(yes I drank coffee Julia) and catching up.

I have had a fantastic day and it isn't even 1:30...it started as a day of promise, and it was everything I wanted it to be. Now onto a bit of crochet, and then a Ratchet and Clank a thon with my little buddy, who will be home at 3:25 on the nose.

Hope your day is all you want it to be!

Any Ideas????

Julia (I tried to call you), or anyone else...

Do you know what kind of yarn this is?

I am in love with it, but it was in the enormous bag of yarn Julia let me use, and it had no label. It is bulky, and almost velvet in texture.

I had to make something with it, but don't have a lot of it so I made these little booties

I want some for my own feet~they are super soft

Thanks for any clues as to the kind of yarn this is~Laura

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

BTW:Today marks the 5 year anniversary of my breaking my right ankle...Happy times...LOL!
