Ice Day!

Today we got a lovely robotic voice mail message from our school district saying that school was delayed for 2 hours due to ice on the roads.

Then 1 1/2 hrs later another harmonious message saying SCHOOL WAS CANCELLED!!!!!!!!!!!

Left on the table were the bags packed, until the next day!

What?  I get to stay snuggled up in bed?  Wait, we get to hang out all day with Julia, and Jay, and the Boys? Wait...WE SHOULD CELEBRATE!

I let the boys do whatever they liked, which entailed a LOT of watching wrestling on our TV, and playing a game.

Whipped out my new griddle out of the box, and Sam and I made some super yummy pancakes

Slathered them in butter and syrup (imitation of course)...

Julia kindly took a 21 week belly shot of me ;)

And it is only 10:22 AM!  I have a potatoes, and carrots in the crockpot for dinner with some beef, and have the best day lined up!  YIPPY SKIPPY!
Hope you enjoy your day too!

Oh, by the way tomorrow is the launch of the Rhythm of the Home Spring Edition, and Julia has WORKED her butt off yet again for our viewing enjoyment.  Stop on over there if you would, and send some love!

Bookcases...DONE!

Yesterday I found that my bookcases had arrived on my doorstep after work!  I was so excited to put them together, but my body had other plans.  My back was paining me in the middle of my shoulder blades, and I was exhausted after 13 hours of work.

So, paper beat rock, and I went to bed 30 minutes later at 9:30 PM.

Phewww ;)
The next morning I woke up, readied Sam for school, and set to quick work assembling my two new purchases!

I was originally going to put them behind the couch, like a console table, but I found they were a bit too high, and made other plans for my new lovelies.

I decided I needed to make the entry way a bit more inviting, and thought a little entry table/shelf unit would be just the ticket!

The second I chose to place in the dining area.  I will use it as a semi sideboard for dinners, and get togethers, and a place to display items I love in the mean time.  I think it adds to the space very nicely.

This is the outfit I wore to bed last night, and what I wore for my assemble line...LOL

Jay took this photo, and said I looked "LOVELY"...YEAH RIGHT!

19 Weeks Tomorrow!

I will be 19 weeks pregnant tomorrow.  Almost half way done baking this little bun, and I feel amazing! You see those slippers there? They were left here by my mother for when she watches the boys for us.  They have molded to my feet, and I love them.  Thankfully we share the same feet.  And you know what?  So does Sam!  See?

Short big toe, normal other 4 toes.  It is a genetic trait, and I am pleased to have passed them on to my boy.  Which makes me wonder...will our next baby have my feet too?  It seems like an awfully dominate trait.  My Gram had it, my Mom had it, Julia and I have it, Sam has it.

You know what the Feb 17th is?  It is the day I find out what the sex of this little bugle in my belly is...Pink or Blue, I am super excited to find out, and have no preference either way.  It was awesome raising a little boy, and he is so amazing, and perfect, and my world in so many ways.  I would be lucky to get to raise another little precious boy.  Then there is the fear, and excitement of the unknown...A girl!  You see I have basically only taken care of little boys in my life.  I am not the tea party, barbie doll playing, pretend mommies.  I am not one of those girls.  Although yesterday when I visited my moms house, she and my sister were sorting through 3 huge bags of dresses from Julias' and my lifetime, it made me hope that I am having a girl so I can see her in them.  Dresses most of them hand made by my mom, with her own hands.  Two of each, doubles for her little twin girls.  The doubles were in either coordinating or matching patterns, and amazing in their condition of over 20 years.  I have no pictures yet, but believe me ...LOVE IN EVERY STITCH!

Generous sister o' mine

Yesterday I was gifted with yet another kind gift from my sister Julia, a lovely camera strap for our recently resurrected camera, and I AM IN LOVE with it!

Self portraits are not my forte' but here is a picture from the Etsy store she bought it from:

It is lovely, and so ME!  She really has an eye.

Today I realized I did not take a 15 week belly picture, so being 15 W 6 D today, I think today's will be suitable for my 15-16 weeks picture.
Okay? OKAY!

1/9/11

Today being my one day off in a 5 day stretch, I woke with a smile!  I successfully managed to keep my %$#@ together, and not become a RAGING %$#%@ when readying the 3 boys for our morning of skiing. I say 3 boys because I count my dear husband amongst the children on days like this.   Usually I am less than patient as I make sure everyone has all the things they need for our trip.  Helmets, skis, poles, underware, turtlenecks, mittens, snacks, etc.  Today. Jay had already laid out his stuff (as I asked) the night before, and the boys stuff was already together from yesterday when they went with Julia.  The morning went off without a hitch, and I did not even once raise my voice!

That being said, I thought I would share with you my newest gift from my mother.  Fitting don't you think?  Every week has a different little saying, and I must say...I resemble most of the remarks.

We had a fair time skiing, amongst the windy, cold there were smiles, and jumps.  Racing in and out of a free race course, trying to beat each others times, and all of us laughing when Jay fell while getting off the chair on his first run ( he did not hurt himself, just his ego was injured).  I must say that was the highlight of the ski trip. DO NOT TELL HIM I SAID THAT!  The boys think that the baby in my belly made the best time in the gates.  I tend to agree.

I have been on a craft-a-thon for this new babe.  Although, I can not pick gender specific colors, I am content with my greens, and blues, and whites.  This newest blankie is no exception.

I made it larger than the pattern so it could be a crib blanket, and I am glad I did.  Although it took me OVER 10 hours to crochet, it was an easy pattern, and I enjoy the finished look so much!  I am planning on edging it in a picot stitch in a purple (girl) or blue (boy) as of FEB 17th.  That is right...we find out the gender on the 17th, and I am counting down the days.

Here is my most recent belly shot.  I have popped over the past few days.  Sam, the other day, patted my stomach and said "Mommy, the baby is growing!"
I smiled at his cute little face looking at me, and then at my stomach.

I must say I am loving the belly pop, but I am not loving how my body feels in general.  I feel out of shape, un-limber, and in need of some exercise.  Of course the weather has been less than optimal for outdoor activites, and I am on high alert couch potato duty...BAD MIX!

Even Bear is getting his stretch on...NOTE TO SELF: Get moving!

On a MUCH cuter note: Sam lost that wonky tooth yesterday.  I got home from work, adn picked him and Eben up at Julia's, and Julia calls to me " Come in Eben's room!"  I walk in and I see the 3 of them all sitting together on the side of Eben's bed, and Sam is smiling at me.  It took me a minute to notice his gap, it was a LONG day.  He giggled, and had BRAVELY pulled his own tooth out. I hugged him with all my might!

HOW COULD I NOT NOTICE THIS RIGHT OFF?

Seriously he is the cutest kid~right?

Today as I pulled back the curtain to take my first of TWO daily tubs. That is right TWO!
This baby has made it's Mama a full on bath addict!  I am not a fan of baths in general, in fact prior to being pregnant this time, I avoided them like the plague.  But since October, they are my favorite craving:

The soaking,
The warmth,
The bubbles,

I was entertained by what I saw...

A slew of little bath toys, all of them beached together, abandoned hastily by last nights bathing of the boys, given by my husband while I was at work.
I chuckled at the way that little plastic boy had landed while the water drained, draped over the dolphin, and posed in a diving fashion.  Oh, and the Zebra...he seemed a bit out of place as well.  The space guy at the forefront of the picture did not seem to faze my thoughts because he looks a "little off".

Before my tub, I posed for my 13 week belly picture.
A little late, 4 days to be exact, but better late than never.

Lastly I share with you a glimpse at the stunning jewelry set my sister MADE for me.  That is right...MADE!

She gifted me with this adorable nest charm with pearl eggs tucked inside the silver, and a pair of dangly, sparkly, matching earrings.  Aren't they lovely?  I think so too!

Merry Chirstmas Eve to you, and Happy End of The First Trimester To Me

So, after 2 full days of work my NASTY habit of procrastinating with the best of them reared it's ugly head. Therefore Jay and I had an assembly line at 9:30 pm on Christmas Eve wrapping our precious Sam's presents! WHY NOT... sure I am NOT EXHAUSTED or anything.  Like I did not have over a month to do the wrapping after I bought the presents?  Sure Laura...WAITING ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is a transcript of the evening:
A banter back of forth of Jay and I saying the same things over and over again.

"Here, wrap this... Give me the tape...Can I have the scissors NOW?...WHERE IS THE DAMN STOCKING?"

Finally all the presents are wrapped, and stacked beneath the tree.  Sam also kindly bought us some presents at a school shopping day (those are in the brown paper in the forefront of the photo). He was so adorable placing the bows on each gift for us. He is so excited!

The stocking was never found (boo hoo), so we boxed up his numerous stocking stuffers in one box, and wrapped it "From Santa".  We are sure we will have a happy, excited boy in the morning.

Today is also special because it marks the end of my first trimester with my little bundle!  I heard the heartbeat today for a full 5 minutes, and I think I could have made a soundtrack out of it.  MUSIC TO MY EARS!
Here is a 12 week belly picture of me tonight.

Adorning me is an AMAZINGLY soft PJ set from my mama!  It is tradition to receive a pair of PJ's or a Nighty from my mom every Christmas Eve, a tradition she continues from one her mother started long ago.  Since she has passed Mom took the reigns, and has bought the boys jammies every year also.
Did I mention she rocks?   P.S. Mom, if you read this...This pair is my favorite pair by far.
PINK and FLUFFY!  In love!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and yours
~Laura~

GingerBread House, and a belly shot (10 weeks)

Of course I had to have 2 evenly divided bowls of decorations ready for the troops!

They really enjoyed picking where to put their own decorations

All done, and looking fabulous if I do say!

Here is my 10 week belly shot.  As of this AM I have gained 3.3 lbs!
