Grey Booties Tutorial
(0-3 MOS)
by
Laura Hooker
Hook : J
Yarn: Lion Brand Jiffy
Key:
CH-CHAIN
DC-DOUBLE CROCHET
HDC-HALF DOUBLE CROCHET
DC2TOG-DOUBLE CROCHET 2 STITCHES TOGETHER
SS-SLIP STITCH
PATTERN:
-CH 29
-DC IN THE 3RD CH FROM THE HOOK AND IN EVERY CH, CH 2, TURN
-HDC EVERY DC, CH 2, TURN
-HDC EVERY HDC, CH 2, TURN
-HDC THE FIRST 6 HDC, DC2TOG THE NEXT 14 STITCHES, HDC LAST 7 HDC, CH 1, TURN
-SS THE FIRST 6 HDC, DC2TOG THE NEXT 8 STITCHES, SS THE LAST 6 HDC
- FASTEN OFF
It will now look like this:
Using a needle and yarn of the same color, hide the tails, and then seam together both the heel, and the bottom of the bootie
Turn right side out, and this is what it will look like now!
Now, you may wish to add a cuff / ankle height to the bootie, here is the pattern for that:
With the bootie WRONG side out, locate the left side of the top of the heel of the bootie
Insert the yarn here, and CH 2
-THEN HDC EVERY STITCH AROUND THE ENTIRE TOP OF THE BOOTIE
-SS TO THE TOP OF THE CH 2, AND CH 2
(SHOWN HERE)
-HDC EVERY HDC, SS TO THE CH 2, CH 2
(DO THIS FOR A TOTAL OF 3 ROWS, OR UNTIL IT REACHES YOUR DESIRED HEIGHT)
FASTEN OFF, AND HIDE THE TAILS, ENJOY!

Finally, a bootie pattern I can keep up with & looks great when completed. I was in desperate need of a pattern for supplying newborns at a women's shelter. I was really happy with the first results.
Thanks for sharing!
Sincerely, Valeri

Are your free patterns available to sell from? Gotta ask :) I've never seen an easier booty pattern.
Wonderful and easy pattern. Made pink booties for a friend today.
I have a question that I hope you can help me with.
I just finish one shoe and it measures 7cm. If I wanted to make them larger, say 10cm, where would I increase in the pattern? I'm kind of a beginner. Thank you for sharing your pattern!!
I love your bootie patterns. I will definitely be giving them a go :) x
Hi!
What are the parameters of the bootie? Long and width?
These are precious! They would be perfect for the charity sewing project at Hopeful Threads this month, I've pinned them. Thanks so much for sharing! :)
I try to do it and I couldn't I'm not very good but I love it , on the end you said: ss the first 6 hdc, etc.. Well I have a lot of stitches to go what can I do?because on the road before that I did dc2 tog on 14 stitches so I have more stitches does these make sense? Thank you!
Lol I was wrong on the dc2tog well I learn something new thanks! I love the little booties!
I have made lots of booties from easy crochet that turned out awful to difficult that turned out cute but way to much work. Your pattern is like "Goldie Locks and the Three Bear's" THESE booties are just right. Thank you for such a great pattern and so easy to follow. I will be shopping your store for sure.
thank you so much! this is my first pair of booties i've attempted--and it's working! i didn't have to abandon it. your crochet friend, heseon in l.a.
Thanks for a simple pattern that I now know by heart . I am recently disabled and am making pairs of booties to pay my property taxes.I live on a very tight fixed income and your pattern is so easy and I have made many versions including using puff stitches on last row of the higher booties.
